‘We have what it takes,’ Fashion Sakala

Striker Fashion Sakala expresses confidence that Chipolopolo has the potential to progress to the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON).

Acknowledging the challenging road ahead, Zambia’s initial task is to navigate past the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in their first match on Wednesday, followed by encounters with Tanzania and Morocco.

In an interview, Sakala emphasized the team’s readiness to take on the continent, stating, “I think we are in a very good group. If we stick together and show passion, hard work, and dedication, I think we will go through.”

Despite recognizing the toughness of their group, Sakalaremains optimistic, stating, “There is no easy game, of course. We have tough countries in our group, but I believe we can do it. The squad is highly motivated, and I think everyone will give more than 100% for us to go through to the next stage of the AFCON.”

Sakalahighlighted the versatility of their attacking players, emphasizing that the squad’s strength lies in its ability to score from various players. He said, “The good thing about our squad is that our attacking players are all dangerous. If the two players concentrate on me, Patson Daka will score, Lameck Banda will score, and Edward Chilufya will score. This is the good thing about our squad; everyone can score, so we are all hungry to score. We can get goals from each and every player.”
