President Hakainde Hichilema has made significant appointments to key commissions, reinforcing the commitment to effective governance and service delivery. Dr. Choolwe Beyani has been appointed as Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, accompanied by Mr. Rodrick Chewe and Ms. Gladys Phiri Selemani Tavaris as its members.

In exercising his authority under sections 15(c) and 9(c) of the Service Commissions Act No. 10 of 2016, the President has named Mr. Akalamwa Sumbwa as a member of the Local Government Service Commission and Mr. Ronald Hichibulo as a member of the Teaching Service Commission.

Additionally, Mr. Anttonette Mutenthwa has been appointed as a member of the Police Service Commission, under the provisions of section 13(c) of the Police Service Commission Act. Furthermore, Mr. Felix Ngoma has been designated as a Commissioner at the Police Public Complaints Commission, in accordance with Section 5(1) of the Police Public Complaints Commission Act No. 18 of 2016.

In a strategic move, President Hichilema has orchestrated transfers within commissions, appointing Mr. Tom Silwindi from the Correctional Service Commission to the Police Service Commission, and Mr. Simon Kabanda from the Police Service Commission to the Correctional Service Commission, both as Commissioners. Moreover, Mr. Mwamba Peni has been reassigned from the Emoluments Commission to the Cabinet office, assuming the role of Permanent Secretary Special Duties.

This series of appointments and transfers underscores the President’s dedication to enhancing institutional effectiveness and ensuring the right individuals are in key positions to drive positive change.
