AFCON: Osimhen States Super Eagles Haven't Displayed Their Optimal Performance on the Field

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen asserts that Nigeria has yet to showcase their peak performance during the current 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The African powerhouse has secured three wins and a draw in four games played in Cote d’Ivoire, including notable victories against hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon. Despite their commendable progress in the tournament, Osimhen maintains that there is ample opportunity for further improvement.

The Super Eagles will take on Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday at 6pm.

He Said:

“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” Osimhen told reporters.

“For me we are more like a family than just players. So for me it is important to have this mentality of winning.

“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going.”
